284 IH, are they a good tractor for small lite work? Easy to get parts for? Farm sale coming up and thinking about going after it.

My friend has the IH 284 diesel and it runs all day with a 5 foot brush hog and he works the tractor.I had to put in a water pump for him at one point and got one off of ebay.Other parts look like they may be hard to get.I just hope he doesn't break the tractor.
