Engine bearings

About the only place to find them is IF someone has NOS . Other wise you is SOL . ten years ago i spent several hours on the phone with Clevite over this trying to get them to make a run on them . They told me that the only way that they would make a run is IF someone special ordered them with a minimum order of 150 large. Everybody stopped making them way back in the seventy's . And what is left is what is left.

Try R.F. Equipment in Michigan. 800-828-6943. I got a price about a year ago from a company (not R.F.), but R.F. has a lot of connections. They won't be cheap, $750 just for the mains, but they're out there. They were available only in STD. or .030U/S. I can't remember the company because I postponed my D-281 project when I heard the price. I didn't have anything to put the motor in, it was just to have around. Another place you might try is Mac's Antique Auto Parts. 800-777-0948. Part of their business is re-babbitting connecting rods for early Fords. Ask for someone in the technical dept, maybe they could re-babbitt your inserts. It would be a simple matter for a machine shop to build a mandrel to finish the bearings, if Mac's can't do it. This is assuming the inserts haven't been damaged by metal-to-metal contact with the crank. I don't know what your situation is, but if there's no copper showing, touch up the crank with some 600 grit wet-n-dry, get some Plastigage and check your clearance. If they come in around .005, I'd put them back in and run them.

641-624-2275 from 8 to 6 central has mains .010, .020 and .030. Could get rod bearings from the dealer, haven't checked recent though. Place above can probably help with the rod bearings also.

None of the guys in RPM had them? W eber Tractor comes to mind
There are a couple others that sell NOS engine parts.

Another possibility... John Deere 5020 has the same journal size. They can be had for $32 each. Downside is you have to have your block align-bored to get them in there. (greater insert thickness)

when i went though my Super MD a few years ago, i searched all over and the CNH dealer was the cheapest i came across.
