SMD belly reservoir

My SMD is using the gutted belly tank as the hydraulic reservoir with a live pump added. I have read that the capacity is 6 qts. or ~9.5inches from the top of the fill plug.

Well my tractor didn't have the fill plug on top so I was wondering if someone could tell me how far the oil level should be from the top of the cast tank itself since I don't know the length of the original fill pipe above the tank. I can't just add 6 qts. either because I'm sure I picked up capacity with the pump removed.

If it just has a nipple and cap the original nipple was 3.25 inches long.

I'd go with this set up. Seems to be all there except for the two hoses that you would probably want to replace anyway. The hoses are cheap enough at the Surplus Center in NE.
