Farmall H bull pinions

Does anyone know how much end play is normal in the Farmall H bull pinion shafts when you grab the brake drum and push in and pull back on it? I was checking the brake bands on a rearend I want to use on a H puller and the end play seems excessive to me but I have never had the brake covers off of one before today.

End play is not controlled as it is just the ball bearing along with shaft moving back and forth in it's bore. Might be 1/16th in or more.
