the lever that is on the right side to run the hydraulics has a spring looking thing to keep the rod from jumping out of position- where can i get one of those?? it is a common thing to h and m,s thank you in advance --

OK i see em-- I refuse to pay 12 bucks to ship a 10 cent item - all it would take is a 45 cent stamp and a 50 cent envelope -- a bit of ranting!!

You did not give your location but if you have a measured drawing or can borrow one for a sample you or your friendly local blacksmith can make one. If nothing else there are sometimes blacksmiths at some of the old tractor shows that love to demonstrate their skills. I know of a few blacksmiths in east central IL. Or you may have a tractor salvage yard close by. Armand

find a piece of banding steel from a shipping carton and snip one out. Aneal it in a propane torch flame till red, then set it in some ashes or wood chips, and let it cool slowly. Then take a nail and vice grip pliers to curl the pin hole loop and spring curve (make it about 3/8" longer than the original) about a total of 2" with the bend at 3/4" from the pin loop. Then heat it again and quench it in water. It should regain its hardness. If it breaks, temper your next try in oil. Jim

Jim: Never thought about using banding steel! Sometimes the simplelest cheapest piece of scrap can become useful. I will have to try that. wannabe blacksmith Armand
