I purchased a Cub that had been sitting inside a barn for a few years..I have got it running, really runs smooth, but after running for about 15 minutes it will overheats. Fluid does not come out the overflow, but after shutting tractor off, steam is escapeing from around the radaitor cap,,Any thoughts on where to start on this problem....Thanks

Drain and use a vinegar flush in the system. If it sat with coolant in it and you did not change it or you change it with out flushing it you could have a lot of rust etc in the cooling system. Drain it out then fill with vinegar and run it till good and warm let sit so as to be safe to drain it out. Drain it then hook a hose to the block drain and back flush it with a garden hose. Also spray out the radiator it self with the hose

Touch the outside surface of the radiator lightly to see if it's hot and also the bottom radiator hose. If they're not hot your tubes are probably clogged in the radiator not allowing any circulation of your coolant. Radiator may need's to be rodded out. Hal

My cub was doing ther same thing. Turns out the fan shaft was worn out and it would lock up and the fan would stop turning. I didn't have a lathe then so I ordered a fan assemble for it. The new one has ball bearings in it. The old one did not.

Are you sure its got enogh coolant in it? The steam part of your post bothers me. A flushing agent wont work as good if you dont premix it first, since a Cub doesnt have a water pump. As suggested, check the fan belt tension.

Thanks guys, it will be a few days before I have a chance to check out, but I will and get back with a post,,,thanks again..
