460 brake question

I have a 460 and every time you use the brakes, the
wheel locks. when it finally does release it sounds
like something is going to break. I have already
taken actuating assembly apart and cleaned balls,
all springs are in place with new brake disks.
Whats wrong guys?

On my 560, I smeared a bit of hi temp grease on the ramps the balls ride in...sparingly.

Also cleaned and greased the 3 areas (on the OD of the "expander")where the center "expander" contacts the outside cover. These three areas keep the "expander" centered in the outside cover and centered on the brake discs.

Also sanded smooth the outer cover, both sides of the "expander" and the inner quill to eliminate any machining marks. (where the brake discs contact)

So far, they work well.

I had one that did that. Turned out that it was grabbing on a crack in the brake housing. I replaced the housing, did a good cleaning before reassembly, and it has been good ever since.

Sometimes the crack is real hard to see. Usually it cracks from the center to the brake actuating hole (weakest part of casting).

Good luck!
