Farmall 560 colors

Hi guys.
I'm restoring a 1959 Farmall 560, and want to as close as original as possible. I have a few questions on some colors:
1. The bolt heads on the hood, red or unpainted?
2. The bolt heads on the side hood skirts, white or unpainted?
3. The wheel studs on front and wheel nuts on rear, unpainted or red?
4. The grill screen, white or black or unpainted? (I have seen all 3 ways)
5. The air cleaner bottom, silver like the top, or red? (with the clear bowl)
Thanks very much!!
Damon

It was painted after assembly, so all the bolts were either red or white. Grill screen white, lug bolts red, air cleaner cup red. But on my 460, I used cadimium plated bolts for the hood and wheels and a few other places. I purchased a gas cap and air cleaner top which were black so I left them that way. I don't mind a few minor differences in color as long as they are not intrusive.

I have a 537 hour original 1958 Farmall 240 that still has the air cleaner top painted red. I bought it from original owner and he didn`t paint any thing on the tractor, he said. Most all air cleaner tops you see at shows are left unpainted aluminum, at least it seems that way to me.Grill for sure is 901 white.

i have quite a few original non painted tractors like, 340's,460's 560's 660's and the hood bolts and side shields are not painted. they are all the zinc color. i think that the sheet metal was painted separett and installed later. the air cleaner tops and btm's are all the aluminum color also with the knob on top. and also if it was painted all together how did the undersides get such a nice paint job?

Mark, not to jump the thread, would email you but your email is not open but could you ever send me some pictures of your 240? Thanks.

Sure, I can. Probably will have to wait till I can dig it out of the shed to get decent pics .Anything in particular? I have at least 1 picture in the tractor photos in the galleries on left side of the page, not a closeup , though.
My email: [email protected]

Hood & side panel bolts = zinc plate
front wheel bolts= zinc or painted
rear wheel bolts =painted ,nuts & washers zinc
front grill & screen definatly 901 white
Air cleaner Donaldson= bottom is pot metal so paint red will match hood.
The air cleaner top =powder coat argent silver same as rear rims.
Air cleaner top, nut polish ,its brass. Tony

I haven't seen an original 560, etc that I remember, so I won't disagree with the zinc plated bolts. I have not seen an aluminum color on the oil container on any air cleaner, though (or do you mean the underside of the cap). I imagine that the sheet metal on all the tractors was painted separately -- that was my mistake.

Oh ok!
So to get it straight, The bottom of the air cleaner (base) is red, and the top is silver?
Sounds like all the hood bolts etc. are non painted?
and wheel bolts are unpainted as well front and rear?
Can you guys also tell me what color the radiator cap is? red or silver?
and the gas cap is? red or black?
thanks for the info everyone!!
Damon

radiator cap =red
fuel cap=red
see lot of black caps because new free ones from IH are black .Dead giveaway.
btw you did not ask but red on genny & starter
Voltage reg take cap off and paint red.

Cnks,
On Air cleaner, I understand his question to be on the precleaner above hood with plastic round bowl. On original Donaldson bottom was silver but its pot metal so easier and blends nicer to paint red same as hood, on the top lid I would paint or powder coat a silver argent and polish the thumb sscrew, as it is brass. the silver argent on the precleaner top should be same as rear rims. Best, Tony

never have seen a red rad cap yet on these tractors from factory. they are all the silver or zinc color as the bolts.
