Super C Hydraulic Reservoir Vent

Just wondering if any of you IH people out there know if a Super C tractor has a Vent on the Hydraulic system, just recently drained it due to having to split tractor for clutch overhaul and found when I drain the hydraulic fluid it was under pressure out the drain plug, any of you know if the system is vented, and if so where is the vent?

Thanks!

There is not supposed to be any vent. However the previous owner of my Super A drilled a hole in the fill plug, probably had the same problem you do. You can relieve the pressure by slowly loosening the fill plug, or just wait a while before you drain it.

The C & SC hydraulic systems are sealed. No vents. Someone may have vented it over time, this also lets dirt in. The cylinders don't have much stroke this there isn't much need to vent it.

I found on one system I was working on the hard way like you did. The good part is the entire front of the Carhardt coat I was wearing is permanently waterproofed now.

There is no vent on the hydaulic reservoir. Always take the fill plug out first when you do any maintenance that requires draining the reservoir. For some reason, pressure builds up in these and bleeds off really slow. I forgot this on my C when I split it to change the ring gear on the flywheel. The tractor had not been run for weeks and I took out the drain plug first and got the oil bath as some of the others here described.
