Just out of curiosity, anyone out there ever repower a farmall H with a different engine? I just want to hear some of the stories. Pictures would be awesome if ya got any!

I'll throw in a repower story to get things started. A fella I know put a 327 in an IH combine to get all his corn off. Worked well and lots of power. He had a belt driven governor on it. I'll admit though, it looked funny with racing headers and cherry bombs sticking out the top.

Not a H, but a few years back I was to a auction where they sold a M with I believe a 2-71 Detroit in it. The folks that have it now post here on YT now and then.

I have a 2-71 sitting in the shop.. Don't know what it will get put into yet, but it will end up in something in the somewhat near future.

Found this on Ebay last year, looks like a 6 cylinder truck engine.

That tractor is now sitting in my shop and resides over here in Hillsdale Co. for the time being. As I have said in the past we lost at that auction in 2004 but bought it from the winner in 2007. It has since gone through some reconfiguration. Wide front end, rear rims, centers and tires, sheet metal, hydraulic system, power steering, etc.

I am in the middle of overhauling the 2-71 and with any luck I'll have the tractor gone through and refinished this summer. I'd like to make the bridge ride in September with it.

You can send me email if you want to talk about it. You are welcome to come over and look at it if you are interested. [email protected]
