706 hydro levers

I purchased a 706. The lever that moves the fast hitch moves good and fast hitch goes up and down, but the other lever[think it is something to do with traction control].. it is in the down position and will not budge. Is the something you have to do before it can be moved upward..or rusted in place ... or something wrong in there..What do you guys think. appreciate you thoughts about it. Thanks

The Draft Control lever must be gummed up and stuck. It should move without doing anything else.

Start spraying some type of lube where it goes thru the casting.

When I bought my 706 I had the exact same problem. There is a nut on the shaft the load control arm is attached to that you can loosen. On the shaft is friction washers that could be frozen, so just hose down with lube and gradually it should work free. I sprayed and worked it for about 3 days and it's never given me a problem since. With the load lever working you'll find you can control the hitch at any speed you need.

The draft lever is normally very 'stiff'.If your tractor is "topless"(no cab) and sat outside,it could be rusted or just stuck from nonuse.A lot of folks never touch the thing.Steve

Hey Morrie, unless you intend to use a semi mounted plow, I would just leave that draft control lever where it is. To control the speed of raise and drop you go into action control segment at the lower end of the position control lever when you are using the draft control lever. Then you control the depth with the draft control lever and control how fast the hitch reacts to a change in load by gradually going into the action control until you are happy with it. The idea is you want hitch to react quick enough so engine does not pull down excessively but hitch doesn't jump up and down. Only works good in nice plowing situations so is seldom used. I have seen more than a few of those shafts twisted off when someone was trying to loosen them up. Some time this spring I may stop over and show you what I am talking about. PS - did you get my answer to your e-mail.
