Farmall c head

I was wondering if there was any difference between the farmall c and super c head or if they are able to be swapped.

thanks

I believe the heads are the same, but someone else can confirm or deny that. The important thing is the head gasket. The SC has a standard water pump, meaning the gasket has to have smaller openings for the water passages. The C is thermosiphon, meaning the gasket has to have larger holes.

The gasoline cylinder head for the C and Super C is 251173R95. I've seen this head on both C and Super C. There are other heads used such as for distillate, etc, but I believe this is what most of them have. The number is on the top of the head.

They didnt use seperate heads for the A and B so now you say those heads are different on the C distillate. The reason i know the A and B i i had two engines and the pistons are different but the heads are the same as gas.

Yes they are the same. The A and B head will also work just fine but they have a little smaller intake and exhaust ports. The smaller ports don't really hurt unless you need the extra power. If you want to boost the power some put a 140,240 or 340 head on it! Just make sure it has only 9 head bolts. It can pick up to 5 hp if tuned right!

I'm going by the parts CD that I have. It shows 4 different part number for heads for the Farmall C. One of them is listed for distillate/kerosine, so there must be something different about them. I agree, that the heads will all interchange. The info I have even lists a conversion kit to change from distillate to gas and the kit included a new head, part number 251172, which is also listed as one of the gasoline heads.

There is a fundamental difference between the chamber volume and port size of the distillate compared to the gas. Valve length is very different. Jim
