Louisville Super M vs Super M 1953

Guess its a matter of opinion. Not worth more to me.
There was less Louisville made, think Louisville
SM production ended in July of 53. They're not rare though.

Yes,Because own one!! lol,

No,I actually think they were built about 3 tractors to 1 tractor(Chicago to Louisville)

Not really sure of actual numbers, but LESS louisville than the "up north" ones. Some of the veterans can verify my "off the cuff" statement I just spewed out.

I have no data

Ahhhhh......a classic example of the "other idiot principle"! A Louisville is only worth more when some other idiot is willing to pay more.

Incidentally I own one each '53 Louisville and Chicago SM's. Aside from the format and number of digits in their serial numbers, the two tractors are absolutely identical.

Both are fine old tractors!

I am with you Bob

When I bought mine, the prices were all the same.No matter where they came from.

Gonna get "smacked" for this, but the REAL rare one is a 1954 Super M(NO MTA)

Let the comments fly!

The SMTA was built only 1 year. And I've only ever spotted ONE "TA delete" SMTA. So it's gotta be a rare bird indeed Mike!

I am not talking about a T/A delete(but never saw one of those)

I am talking about the 1954s built in the FIRST quarter of the year.I have been "TOLD"(DO NOT know for sure???) 1954 "straight" Super Ms were only built in January. The rest of the year were ALL Super M TAs

There are no differences. I have a Louisville Super M. If there were two SM's side by side in the same condition and one of them from Louisville, I would pick the Louisville one, because of lower numbers produced. Maybe even pay a couple of hundred more. I would rather have a Louisville Super M than a white C, which I also have (I painted it red). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Kind of the "trend" I noticed when I bought mine in 2000 was the price of these tractors were pretty close to what they were new at the factory. The older fellow selling them (Most of these guys had owned them since they were brand new)were not trying to get rich off of selling them, they just wanted their money back out of their reliable,"work horse" tractors. They were selling these to guys like me who ACTUALLY use them to get important work done!

It seemed like a "pay it foreward" system?

Now it seems like a lot of people are trying the "Barrett/Jackson" approach! Alot of guys just buying them up trying to turn a dollar out of them!

I would bet the crowd is growing of these people who are buying these that have NEVER actually owned a farm tractor or EVER even used one for working purposes???

Here again,I say the TRUE value of any tractor is with it's current owner and what the machine has done for HIM!Not the fact it is one of 89 "high crops" ever built. DONT GET ME WRONG,I think collector tractors are cool, but the "work horses" will always have my heart.(I have said this too many times! lol)
