IH 300 Starting Problem

When I parked my 56 IH 300 last fall it was running fine. Now it will not start. It has good spark, I cleaned the Carb and the plugs. I disconnected the air hose and shot in some starting fluid and it still will not fire. I know that it is getting plenty of gas but it seems like the gas is not reaching the plugs. Any Ideas?
Thanks, Ern.

charge the battery. Remove the rubber hose from the carb. Have some help, and make sure it is in Neutral, put your hand over the intake where thr hose was removed. Have the helper crank the starter for 2 seconds. Heavy suction on your hand will tell you that it is making vacuum correctly. If the engine starts, Good. if not, check inside the distributor cap to see if there is moisture or carbon tracks that would keep spark from getting to where it belongs. Jim

has spar.. ok.. getting fuel ( starter fluid ).. but no start.

I'd do a compression check...

Could be be loss of compression from dry cylinder walls caused by sitting a long time. (My Super H that does this if it sits unstarted more than a few months.)

This is how I get it to start the first time after a long rest: Remove each plug, shoot an ounce of motor oil or a good long blast of WD-40 into each jug, crank the engine a few revolutions then replace the plugs.

I had a similar problem with my B last year. Some fresh gas did the trick for me. I could burn the old gas in my car but I couldn't get it to fire in the tractor.
