Super C was running-not now

This Super had set for 5 years, I cleaned the tank, checked the spark, shot a little carb cleaner it poped off and started running great. Drove it around for about 15 minutes, and it ran fine. Now it wont start. I am getting spark and if I choke it fuel runs out the bottom of the carb, so I"m sure it is getting fuel. What else can I check. Any help is appreciated Thanks

I had that happen and it ended up being that the sediment bowl was partly plugged in the top half going out of the unit before the line. And the carburetor was filthy. Once I cleaned them up it ran like a dream.

sounds like the float is stuck. Try tapping on the bowl with a wrench or screwdriver a few times to "loosen" it. This would most likely be a temporary fix, it would be better to take the carb apart and clean it out. good luck.

As somebody else said - could just be flooded.

Turn the gas off to the carb. Try starting for a while till it finally drips out enough gas to operate.

If it doesn't fire within a reasonable time (a few minutes) - wait 10 minutes and try again.

If it still doesn't fire up at all - you probably need to pull the carb for a real cleaining.

I have seen several with stuck floats, the float actually rusts to the pivot pin.

You could pull a sparkplug and see if it's black
or wet. Could be as mentioned being flooded.
If one is wet I would pull all of them and let them dry. If you have air pressure I would blow some air on them. Then reinstall them and give it a little snort of carb cleaner to see if the engine fires. You probably will need to rebuild that carburetor if gas keeps dripping. Check that float to make sure it isn't filled with gas, you can do that by shaking it. That float seat may have dirt in it keeping the float from shutting off the gas. Hal

One of two things are happening. (A) the float is stuck as others have mentioned, or (B) a piece of scale or dirt has broken loose from the tank/sediment bowl and stuck in the needle and seat. The best answer is going to be to open up the carb and repair or replace the problem parts. If your in a pinch for cash, you might be able to take off the fuel line and blast the carb using the fuel inlet.
You should not have to choke it after its been running and you should not have fuel running from the unit.
