H carb DC or DB

I replaced the carb om my 1948 H because the old throttle body was broken. My old carb was a 50981-DB the new one is a 50981-DC. They look slightly different inside. I had to cut a place to enlarge the vent on the DC. I think it had been resurfaced which left no relief for the vent. I am curious about the difference.

D would have been the original part number suffix.DB and DC would be later revisions. My 1953 parts book shows only the DC number.

The DC is the later version of the DB, and all upgrades are backwards compatible. You should not have needed to make any modifications.
