I have a IH 766 with a smooth running D360 in it. What all is involved in putting in a DT466 out of a old IH plow truck? This engine has no computer stuff on it. Thanks Kent

The 360 and 466 are the same basic design, but the 466 is a much larger engine. You will need a whole bunch of parts from a 966, 1066, or 1466 to make the larger engine fit. Exactly which parts I'm not sure. At least front and rear engine covers. Possibly frame rails. Oil filter housing. Possibly radiator. The hood might turn out to be too short.

If the 360 is running good, why replace it? The 766 doesn't really have the internals to deal with 200+HP. You'd be much better off finding a 1066 or better yet a 1466 with a bad engine, and transplanting the truck engine into that... At least it would be a much simpler conversion.

radiator, fan, fan shroud, front cover, fuel tank and support bracket, flywheel, clutch, probably want to go with the tractor manifold on the exhaust side, engine back plate. other random parts along the way

Go over to the red power forum and search for 766.

It has been discussed a few times. The 300 series and 400 series are very similar. The 766 frame is even drilled for both engines. Use the front and rear plates from the 360 on the 466. The clutch from the 766 will not last very long so needs upgraded. Add the 1466 radiator, exhaust manifold and turbo plumbing, fuel tank. The 766 transmission is basically the same as a 966.
If it is currently running fine, I would look for a 1066 or 1466 that has not had the water wilter serviced properly and start there.
