Farmall H Distributor Question

I am wanting to buy a tune up kit for my 1947 Farmall H. One Kits for Delco and One Kits for IH Distributors. I think mine is a IH Distributor
It is Horizontal mounted and is like the one in the photo. Can you guys verify it is an IH and Not a Delco before I order the Tune up kit.
I couldn't find IH or Delco marked on it anywhere.
Also, are some kits better than others and who's a good source for the kit?
Thanks

To add,

I dont know if there are any REALLY GOOD tune up stuff still out there???

When I was a kid,My dad always bought Echlin when we wanted the "good stuff" for the customers. But,from what I am hearing,I dont think there are any GOOD points left on the market? They just have a SMALL amount of plating on the contact surface of the points. Not nearly as much as they used to.

I was looking at this tune up kit?
Only thing that confused me is my Farmall H is a 1947 and the kit has listed 1951-1962? But has list "H".

Maybe someone else will comment on here, but I think the year might be irellevant here.

That style IH distributor takes the SAME points my 53 Super M does. I believe I can stick that whole distributor in my tractor?

Yeppers Mike you sure could, I think there was some difference in advance springs or weights but not 100% sure which.

If there WAS a difference in the advance springs,I wouldnt know why?(NOT saying there wasnt.)

Just about all of these distributors would have full advance around 1500 RPM.(Could not swear to that statement.)

yes yr. is irellevant, its all the same points on all these ih distributors.correct some have diff. springs for diff advance curves.

Farmall H prior to '51 or so came with a magneto. Thus their listing of '51 and up. Yours was back fitted with battery ignition that the listed parts fit.

Yes, but the full advance may be from 20 to 35 degrees or more. Best to match them up. I think tractor vet knows more on this.

Advance rate varied, depended on which springs. Maximum advance varied, depended on the shaft. Each shaft was stamped with the max and L/R for left or right rotation. Each distributor assembly was stamped at the mounting flange with a code to identify which version .

Weights are same in all of those IH distributors , springs are different for different advance. Original H had 40 degree, super had 30 degree, any with fire crater power pack put in had 22 degree. Springs control the rate of advance, hole in shaft controls maximum advance, all are to be fully advanced by or some what before rated rpm. The code on dist mounting flange shows what advance that dist had originally. Could have been changed. Weak springs and worn weights cause too early advance at low speeds. You will get that exhaust flutter at low speeds and rough running. Excessive total advance caused detonation under load. You may not hear it but your pistons will know it.

Thanks for the input on the advance weights/springs.I learned something new today! ;)

I hear of some guys using Chevrolet springs because IH springs are no longer available ????

Anybody got any input on this????
