F-20 valves

Does anyone know where I can get new valves for an F-20? I have a 20 with a recent head job, but the valves were different lengths to the point that some dont have enough adjustment in the rockers. Thank you, Adam. Also looking for a Behlen road gear and radiator shutters if anyone has a set for sale.

I doubt that the valves are too long...
Which direction do you run out of adjustment? I wouldn't take the engine apart again. If the valves are too high you might try grinding a little off to get the right clearance. Another possibility could be if you used one of the newer style thinner head gaskets, it will affect valve adjustment. I compensated by placing washers (all the same thickness) under the rocker arm pedestals.
Also, there is a possibility you have dirt in the tappets that could be causing you to bottom out the adjusting bolts.

maybe when you took the pushrods out some crap fell down into the tappet and now your pushrods arent seating all they way...................

Assuming you cleaned this engine and dirt is not the problem......
If the valves are too high or long meaning they protrude too much they are shot. Valve grinding takes material off the valve face in effect making them "longer" because they sit deeper in the seat. If they were ground down to the point they have no margin left, they need replaced. Add to this the grinding of the seats and the valves get even longer. Years of wear and quick valve grind jobs can be ground out but the geometry can be way off, leaving multiple valve protrusion heights. All head "rebuilds" are not the same, there is a big difference between a valve job and a rebuild.
The solution is new seat inserts and new valves together and everything will then be in the proper geometry.

are all the valves even across ? If not you either have seats ground way deep in the head or valves ground way too much undersize, or maybe some of both. Did you mill the head ? There is a lot of adjustment in those things, unless you have dirt and crud in the pushrod pocket in the lifter you shouldn't run out of adjustment unless you milled a lot off the head. If your valves and seats are causing that issue, you need new seats and probably valves, easy to get , I see 3 places listed that can help you.If your valves are sticking up that high you will have NO valve spring pressure to close them.

I recently had a similar problem on a 10-20 and the problem was caused as Old and Bill described.
We took an extra pushrod and made a cleaner our of it by cutting a grove and grinding away half.
Using this "Tool" we remove 1/4 inch of crud from each tappet and now we have plenty of adjustment.

I guess I didn"t explain the problem quite right. My longest valve is where the rest should be. It is adjusted good. If you run a straight edge across, a bunch are about a quarter to an eighth of an inch too short. I think they may have put the wrong valves in it. Thanks for all the input.

That's an unusual problem. With valve and seat grinding, they recess further into the head and should get higher. All I can think of is that someone ground too much off the tips of the valves. Did you have valve seats installed in the head? Where did the valves come from they installed? New or used? I can't imagine any other valve fitting besides the right one.
Better ask the machine shop that did it, seems like they should have checked the installed height.
