650 was smoking heavy when running on diesel (raw fuel smell)...had the injectors rebuilt still smokes ..,no smoke at all running on gas..now what? looking for answers..thanks

#1 is to check compression or
loosen injector line at injectors one at a time and find out which cyl. is the cause.

also did you get any info on the injectors before rebuild ? what was done to those injectors? very slim chance injectors need rebuilding, usually a cleaning and reset. most of these injector people nowadays are useless when it comes to this old stuff unless they are experienced in it.
i had i injector from my wd40 i wanted checked and reset. took it in and cost 100.00 to check and clean. come home and put it in and worst than before. took it out and dissasembled it and it was not even correctly assembled. so i dont even know how they set it. and the thing is i had it all cleaned beforehand and just wanted it set. tore a strip off that service manager and told him i dont want it painted i want it fixed, the dumb as-.

Assuming you ran it for 10 to 15 minutes at least getting it at least warm, and assuming the pump is putting out enough fuel, and timing on diesel is correct, the situation might come down to analysis.
A compression check on diesel will need a 0-600 psi gauge, and the adapter to those injector ports It will also not turn over well on diesel due to the design not intended to do so. Checking on the gas side is not important unless there is a stuck primary valve. If the compression relief valve system has one that is stuck open, the situation you describe will happen. Looking under the valve cover to assess the position of the starting valves can work, but if one is burnt, it might look OK but leak diesel compression into the start/spark chamber.
If cracking the diesel injector lines lets you find the missing cylinder, change the injector with another cylinder to see if the miss follows the injector, if so the injector is the issue.
After the compression check if you decide to do it, decisions can be made. Jim

have you checked and adjusted the valves? is it missing when this smoking is going on? what have you done so far? has it new fuel filters? problem can also be in pump.is the guage in the green on pump?
like give a detailed list of work you have done or havn't so far.
