The first link did not work so try this link although the first link is very interesting showing a mule drawn picker at work. Problem is the operators did not realize how fast a mule would walk and they try to use this ground driven machines at too slow a speed. This link will take you to the video for Old Red.

Yea I think you are correct but it was posted by mistake. You can work down to the picker from the first video if you follow the links. Notice another link to a video from Cash IH of one those original one row pickers in the field.
 
This was known as a "Specks" picker for the inventor on the patent. It had 2 steel cylindrical rolls with a 1/4 inch "L"shaped hooks in several rows. It became a JD #30 stripper after they bought the patents and were manufactured during the 1930's. The roll drive gears are very similar to a current stripper.
