farmall 400 light wiring and tach question

My 400 lights have never worked
since I bought it. After sitting for
three years I'm fixing it up to use
again. The mice destroyed the
light wiring. Would it be better to
buy a wiring harness for it or can
I make my own if so what gauge
of wire. I would like to make my
own cause I want to add a light
cause I will be pulling a feed
wagon and I want one to shine on
the feed bunks. Also I read on
here there is a place that fixes
tachs. What is the info for that
place and is it better to have mine
fixed or buy a cheap one of eBay
if I'm slowly restoring it. Thanks

Depends how handy ya are . I make all my own harness and i do them to correct color and size even the ends are the heavey duty ones . !4 ga. is what ya need for the lites and as for color ?? my books are out in the truck . If i really knew how to use this magic box and i could find where my daughter put the wiring i could do it a lot easier but i am not that good with computers. She scanned all the wiring and put it in here some place and showed me ONCE not twice or three time but once and she was gone . IF i am lucky i MIGHT see her this weekend . I am sure that one of the other guys has his books close and can tell ya what ya need for color but 14Ga. is the wire size .
 
The ebay tach is the way to go in my book, alot less hassle. The harnesses aren't that hard but again for the hassle, ebay. As for a replacement tach cable use A&I, I tried a couple different places and they sent me the wrong cable.

I just bought an EBAY tach (from India?) for my 350 - works perfectly. Comparing them side by side they look exactly the same and weighed about the same too. The new one may not last 50+ years like the old one but then I won't be around that long either.

I never tried to get the old one fixed.
