What is the name and function of this collar on an H?

I found a mystery part on the Farmall H I parted out in December.
It was clamped around the front upper bolster shaft and I wondered
if it had something to do with a cultivator. Then someone wanted
to buy the shaft so I took the collar off so I could get the shaft out
and I haven't thought about it much since. I didn't think to get a
picture of the collar in situ, but I hope someone will still be able to
identify it.

Zack it is one of three pieces that work together for steering model hm-221 shifting gang cultivators. The other 2 pieces are what steers the gangs and the locking peices that engages the steering bracket. That is a spacer that goes on the bottom of the steering bracket on bolster shaft. Try and find the other 2 peices and sell as a set. Part number might be in h parts catalogue. Jim

I think it is two "cap halves of the cultivator turning arm. In other words it is like two connecting rod caps bolted together. The why it was there would still be a mystery. Jim

That's what s'posed be there. It is part of the shifting gang cultivator.

Don't know if your piece has been altered as I am not going out in the cold to look at mine. Might look tomorrow.

(quoted from post at 09:18:03 01/23/12) Wardner, is that your tractor and if so...do you have any more pictures of those half tracks!?

I'd like to see some more pictures of that one myself! Haven't seen a track conversion in almost ten years now.

Yep, it is my tractor. Don't have much in the way of pictures. It has been disassembled for a number of years as I was going to install a 9 speed and M&W live PTO adaptor hand-clutch. The axle bracket is home-made as my tracks came off a 400.

About a month ago, someone else posted a nice picture of an H with Arps tracks.

I looked at my cultivator bracket today. That two piece spacer is on top in my tractor. PO installed it.

Neat! I would love to find a pair for one of my Farmalls! I found a set a few months ago but the guy would not sell them seperate from the M they were on and I dont need a 7th tractor!
