$25 may have saved my 100's

The other day I bought an engine oil pressure guage set from HF for $25. Figured it would be worth a try before I tear the tractor apart and replace bearings. The orig. style guage kept reading almost no pressure when warm at idle. Hooked the tester up and up the A (best I could without backing it out and trying to cut some grass) and at low idle I had right at 32 psi. Gonna order a replacement guage for the tractor and hope that it reads correctly.

Guess it wasn't too bad of an investment.

i keep an OPG on a grease hose whip in my tool box. makes a great '2nd opinion' oil pressure checker.

hooking up a master guage is the normal thing to do when when questioning the tractor guage.then go from there.

Sometimes, the line to the gauge gets plugged. If I try another gauge and get good readings, I have disconnected the line at the gauge and slid a rubber hose over it into a bucket. Start it up briefly and see if you have flow. Could be price of new gauge, replace a crimped line, or clean out an oil line.
