Farmall M wide front

Just picked up an M with a wide front. It's partially disassembled and the engine is stuck. What is the wide front worth? Trying to decide whether it's a fixer-upper or parts machine.
Are there build records that state whether a particular tractor came with a wide front end? Also, it has the older style hubs, not the flat disc style hub.

I don't think there are any records of which tractors had which front
end, I imagine that the dealerships would have swapped them out
when you were buying a tractor if you wanted a different kind. I only recall seeing pictures of them being shipped with the narrow front, it certainly would have saved space on the rail car.
There are IH wide fronts and also several aftermarket ones, I think
the values vary depending on location and condition as well as
make.

A good ballpark for an original style wide front that isn't busted or welded would be about $400-$500. It all depends on what part of the country you are in. They were a lot more common in some places than in others.

If it looks like this... it recently sold on ebay for $548. The description there said it was for an M,H, F20, F30. (Husband said it must be for an M or H because the pedestals are different for F20 or F30.)

This is just my opinion but all machines are worth saving. That
one doesn't look to awful. Gonna take some work to put it back
and get it running but you have a nice M with a good wide
front. I'm not saying put a full resto on it but don't part it out.
Still has lots of life left. Now if the blocks cracked and the
tranmission has issues then maybe it would be worth it to part
out.
