IH 806 steering to left

Problem: IH 806 cuts all the way to the left and will not correct. This has happened 4 times. It has been temporarily fixed by replacing the o-ring on the piston in the steering cylinder (it had rolled off the shaft.) That works for about a year and then it happens again. Have also replaced the cylinder sleeve. Would rather fix it for good than keep patching. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

In my opinion the pressure to force the piston to one end and to stay there must come from the valving in the steering wheel driven pump. This proportioning pump has control of the cylinder. If it is hanging up internally it can force full pressure to one end of the steering cylinder. Jim

I would agree the problem is in the steering control valve mounted on top of clutch housing. Sticking spool. They need to move very freely and spring centered.

Hey, thanks! Figures as those are just about the only parts not replaced. They never showed any sign of malfunction, wear or tear and we were told by our tractor mechanic "Aw, those things never go bad." Will get right on it. Thanks again.
