Morning All,
As you said the starter wasnt too hard to get off.
If I had the correct tools it would of gone better.
Took it to work and had the guys next door we tested it the soleniod moves the drive but drive wont turn . So spoke to my favorite IH man and he said sound like internal problems so its
time to locate a starter . I work at a parts store so it wont be too difficult to locate one.
Thanks for all your help , this is a great place to visit for help .

Yep. Sounds like the bushings went south which allowed the armature to get into the field windings, and now the whole thing is locked up. I'm thinking that starter was probably talking to you long before it actually quit, but with limited experience in such matters you probably didn't realize what the starter was telling you.

Still could be solenoid trouble, plunger also moves contact washer to hit both end cap bolts to energise starter motor. Test with lite on motor terminal, should be on when solenoid is energised, if not, try turning solenoid battery input bolt 1/2 turn, and try again. If motor needs repair this won't help, but anytime solenoid works after several clicks it is usually just solenoid bolt head wear.

Thanks,
Saturday when it tried to start it it didnt sound good ,tractor started but being in a hurry it stalled out and just clicked from then on.
It looks like PO had replaced soleniod b4.
I have a rb unit on the way so it should be good to go after that Thanks for all you input, I think Ih tractors are great but yes old tractors of any kind are cool too. would love to add to my collection but someone says no soooooo.
I will keep what I have for now
