Can anyone tell me the difference between the radiators in a Farmall 656 Hydro and 656 gear drive? I’m looking for one for a hydro, part # 396734R1, which is apparently mighty hard to come by. I can find gear drive versions #391200R91 much easier, but would they work? What’s the actual difference? By the way this is a Diesel.
Thanks
Tim

I have an 826 Hydro...I think the radiators are the
same. The difference is the trans cooler is
bigger, and the fan has more blades to pull more air-
better cooling.

I am pretty sure the hydro radiator has thicker or more rows of tubes to cool the engine, the hydros all have a higher governed speed for the engine to offset the HP loss of the hydro. It will most likely fit but wont cool as well in hotter areas.
