Will it fit

I am looking at a john deere model 46 loader, that was mounted on a 450 farmall. It is in excellent shape and the price is right.Since it was on a 450,will it fit on an H or M or is a 450 longer because of the TA? thanks for your time. Jim

It depends on where the loader bolts to the tractor.

Someone "customized" this loader to make it fit the 450. It should fit the M okay, but even if it doesn't, the additional customizations necessary to make it work should be minor.

It may also fit the H, but not without some spacers and/or modifications.

What are you planning on doing about hydraulics? The 46 is a fully hydraulic loader from what I've seen, and has pretty small diameter cylinders. This is good for speed because an M's belly pump does not flow very much, but bad for lifting capacity because the M's belly pump only puts out 800PSI. You can add bigger cylinders but that would cost a fortune.

Also if your M does not have power steering, you will get a heck of a workout if you can steer it at all. The 46 looks like a pretty hefty loader, certainly a far cry from the flimsy pipe loaders that you'd see on an M.

The 450 is slightly longer than an M because of the T.A., but basically, if it fit on a 450, it will fit an M, and yes, a few modifications might be in order.

If it will fit an M, it will fit an H.

The 46 was the next model after the 45,it has a trip bucket, evidently they were available either way.My H has a live pump. Jim
