Super H, stage II

Wondering if a 53 stage II Super H is the same as a 54 stage II, other than the year? Acording to tractor data.com there was like 6,582 built in 54 but is there any serial number brake for how many were made in 53?

I have a 53 Stage II SH. There are no differences between the 53 and 54. Other than the Y casting date codes instead of the Z codes. Mine was built around August 53. I have never seen a break in SNs or how many 53 were built as Stage IIs. I have heard you could order either Stage I or Stage II.

My buddy has a late '53 Stage II; my father in law one of the last '54 Stage IIs built. Aside from the front ends (one is is NF, the other is factory WF) the two tractors are identical.

Calander year stage 2 SH for 1953 was from November serial # 19234 to first one built in 54 serial # 22202. Some 54 models have 1953 date codes on the castings especilly early 54 ones.

D = tractor came with higher compression pistons for operation at a higher altitude. Called 5000 ft. attachment by IH. J = equiped with a rocford manufactured clutch. For the M, is first and reverse gear slower than most SH? Called a low low attachment.
