How to replace the needle bearings in the rear end of an M

My fiance and I are working on putting together an M Farmall for pulling in the Classic Modified class. We need to replace the needle bearings in the rear end. Can anyone tell us how to do this? We haven't been able to find instructions anywhere.

You'll have to be a little more specific. Are you wanting to replace _all_ the bearings in the final drive? The only thing close to a needle bearing is the pilot bearing in the transmission. All the others are caged ball bearings. The bearing are readily available.

You need the IT and IH service manuals for an M to help guide you. Basically you pull the top plate off of the trans/rear and disassemble from there. These tractors are pretty simple but parts are large and heavy.

Gives us more detail on what you want to accomplish.

Okay what I posted made no sense. We need to NEEDLE BEARING the rear end so it will go straight down the track. He knows all the other. He's advanced just has never had to needle bearing a rear end.

Truthfully, I would go post over on the Red Power Magazine forum. The guys over there know a little more and they are willing to share. The pulling forum here is filled with arragant aholes who love to throw anonymous stones.

There was a post on this recently and there was a guy who posted who sold a drop in unit for not much.
