Looking at it from the front, it is CCW. Lefty loosy. The use of heat on it might give it incentive. A square 1/2" key stock and a 2.5 foot piece of 3/4" pipe will break it loose. Jim

I put a bolt through the cotter pin hole on my belly pump drive shaft and put a nut on it. Then I put the shaft back in place and put a 24" crescent wrench on it and it came off fine. That being said I did part out an H in November/December that I could not budge the countershaft nut and I ended up cutting off the flange and cutting a flat on the seal surface with a cut off wheel. I think the heat was what finally made that come off, but I have never had one that was that stuck before. It was damaged anyway so I didn't feel much compunction about cutting it up to get it off.

I have an H that has the same seal leaking. I used a brass punch and hammer and it came off easy but now I can't find any place to purchase a new seal. The # on the old seal is CR43308D any help on that.

I used my big pry bar. Kind of like Jim's keystock method, but I didn't have any keystock and I did have one of the finest prybars Harbor Freight had to offer. I may have been made from a Farmall.

CR Chicago Rawhide manufactured for IH, IH part number is 43308D, been replaced by many number changes to the newer design seals, any CNH or auto parts store should be able to cross reference it to new type.
