First I think the IH's were made by Arts-Way. Check to make sure your hammers aren't wore out, auger flighting, augers, etc.

I would see/ hear it run at speed to check for vibration or imbalance. Make sure the bearings are good on the hammer mill shaft. Had a neighbor who had the front bearing go out. The drive pulley had to be cut off to get to the bearing.

Just a note about the hammers,they can be rotated or switced around so that all four corners can be used.

we have a 1150 used to grind ear corn every other week. have had it for about 15 years with little issues.ours likes to run fast when unloading or it makes a little noise in the gears
