it says its an overdrive unit. It would attach were the belt pully gear box would go. Ive never seen one like it before.

I've got one on my '46 H. It is actually a "rotary hoe gearbox" and provides a gear speed between 4 and 5. I've only seen one other than mine and it was on EBAY approximately 3 years ago.
That one looks to be in rough shape, but if there are any mechanical problems it could be easily repaired. I remember what the last one sold for and will be interested to see what this one brings.

Wardner (and another person that is on here sometimes) know about them. They provide a single gear between 4th and 5th. They were a Rotary How special drive gear. Not IH. Look for the content in the archives (this year seems like September or so. Jim

Yeah I initially posted on here asking about it a few years ago. I got several good responses as to what it could be, most thought an overdrive or a crawler gear, but never a definitive answer. At that point, I started my own research and finally figured it out. I did post a few months back, with pictures of the attachment off the tractor for Wardner and others to see the design and mechanical workings.
I don't want to influence bidding on that particular item so I will withold what the last one was purchased for on EBAY, but I will say it was in similar condition to mine.

Yes, saw a couple on M tractors but not a H before. No identification marks could be found on the housings that I could find. Drove one tractor it had a speed between 4th and 5th when engaged. Main transmission had to be placed in neutral when gear box was engaged. Since the trans was placed in neutral the top shaft in trans was only one driven faster by meshing with the 4th slider gear. Bottom shaft that operates the PTO and hydraulic pump was still driven the same speed through the constant mesh gears.

Jason, Just looking for a little learning this mornining. I have both a H and M with a Heisler 9 speed so I have no interest in one of these as I already have the speeds this gearbox provides. Just wondering if this also affects the speed the PTO and Belly hydraulic pump are driven like the Heisler's do? There were some very creative folks to come up with all these different designs to make a good useable tractor even better. Thanks for sharing your real life experiences with us, Hal.

Hal, I'm afraid I can't share real life experiences, as I only stumbled into the one I have. I have done extensive research on these attachments however. DSlater is correct, the PTO and belly pumps are not effected, as this attachment essentially joins the belt pulley drive gear and fifth gear in the trans.
