Super C fan

I've been working on my super c's govenor. To make it easier to get to the govenor the radiator and fan were removed. When I took the bolts out that hold the fan blades to the housing, the end cap came off and the oil in the fan housing ran out. How much oil and what kind is in this housing ?

I just put motor oil in, SAE30 that I use in the tractor, right or wrong. Only takes about a cup or so, not very much.

It uses the same oil as the motor. You turn the hub to the horizontal position remove the plug and fill then turn it to the bottom and drain the excess then turn it back up and install the plug takes about 1/10 pint.

Next time dont take the fan apart the gov housing will come out without removing it ive done it several times. Same as replacing water pump.

Be careful not to run it dry. If you broke the seal by removing the fan blades, it may not seal when you put it back together. I had to use a little silicone to get a seal when I rebuilt mine. Watch when you start up and be sure the fan is not slinging oil. If if is you are going to have to seal up the end.
