I,m positively going to order one soon for my H.
Took the straight pipe off when I got home, got a new Stanley muffler from our Fleet-Farm. What a total poor exuse to even call this a muffler. No baffles, just a straight pipe with a fat body.Big waste of $30.00 for me My comment.

Just remember that the C&G will be straight thru also. It may be a little quieter and will have the original sound, and will last longer.

Ours (C&G) are being made using the original IH blueprints as their guide.(just like we had in the past) Some of these are straight thru and some are not.

We are NOT using "reworked" STANLEY mufflers like others do. Our have the correct shape, size, sound, ect. AND they will have the IH stamped in them too!

Exepcted delivery time is May-June 2012

You bought a muffler for an M. The muffler for the H has a longer barrell, and it DOES have a baffle, although it still doesn't have the correct sound nor is it as quiet as an original. Tractor supply type stores don't know the differenceand they usually stock only the one model.

I know at least one guy that welded a plug into the center of a stanley forcing the exhaust to bypass the plug into the outter area, and re-enter the inner pipe, thus going thru '2' baffles.

i believe it was someone here or on the ford board that mentioned it. might have welded a washer or something inthere.. not sure..

Are you sure the H muffler will be straight-thru (straight-through)? I still have the original muffler from our '51 H even though it's outer jacket is pretty burned up and/or rusted out..and it has a baffle. The "original type" we got from Mark's Tractors has a baffle in it too...that's the one that seems original because the '51 H now sounds just like our new '50 H did "back then" with it's new original muffler. I don't know about the M versions.

If you want to change it up from original with a nice long lasting look and great sound checkout stainlessstacks.biz, Good quality stainless tubing and the welds are perfect. My tractor is the 706 shown on the site. If you order mention jimmydawrench he might knock a few bucks off.

I will definitely agree that the ones you buy from Farm and Fleet are crap. Pardon my french.

I bought a muffler from Ken (C&G) for my C a while back that was made according to IH specs. I remember being able to see straight thru. But, it is a TON quieter than the Stanley (or whatever it was). Had the tall and skinny look the C muffler should have. But, most importantly, had that indescribable C sound that I was missing with the other mufflers.

When C&G starts stocking these again, I'm buying them. My 2 cents.

Mine from Marks tractors that I bought in 2002 for my C and H do not have baffles, broom handle bottoms in the manifold. Perhaps Mark and earlier, IH, changed the specs. All I know is the sound is right, to my ears anyway.

I have a NOS 360720R91 Super C muffler in the original cardboard box from the 1950's or 60's with the IHC paper labels still attached. It is straight through with no baffle. I notice in my TC-44B Parts Catalog for the Super C there is a notation that states the 360720R91 will work for 48832DC, 356004R91 and 357595R91 mufflers which were probably earlier ones which might have had a baffle. It appears this baffle thing is going to be hard to put to rest since it will be difficult to find those earlier noted mufflers for a visual check unless the original blueprints are available in the records in Wisconsin, Hal.
