hello all
I have a 1968 IH Cub c-60 and need to know it the cylinders are 1 thru 4 starting at the radiator and moving back toward the steering wheel ? also with the crank in the TDC position at pointer with distributor mounted would the rotor button point at the 7/8 o'clock position ?

thanks for your help

The cylinder are numbered 1-4, front to back. With the front pulley on the timing mark, either 1 or 4 will be at TDC on the compression stroke.

Remove the #1 spark plug and with your thumb over the hole, rotate the pulley till you feel the pressure (compression) building up and continue to rotate the pulley till the you reach the second timing mark. You will now have the #1 cylinder TDC on the compression stroke. With this set, look over to the distributor rotor button, it should be pointing to the #1 tower, or about 1 or 2 o'clock.

Thanks for the replies, Sometimes I start secound guessing myself and forget what little I do know.

When No1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke your rotor should point at your No1 plug wire on your cap that's around 2 o'clock. The firing order is like this: Hal

2-1
4-3 As the rotor rotates CW.
