I am having a magnetic name badge made for a friend of ours for his 1950 W-4. How would you classify it for make/model?

In 1950 the manufacturer was International Harvester Corp. Right?
Would you consider the model a McCormick W-4?
Or manufacturer McCormick-International?

What would you put down as the make and model?
Personally I think I would just leave McCormick out of it but want your opintions...
Thanks..

They are made by International Harvestor Corp. They were McCormick as the brand International as the MFG. As a Falcon is a Ford There was a time they were McCormick Deering, But older. Jim

ohh and dont call it a farmall as that is totaly wrong.and dont leave mccormick out , correct name is mccormick w4. when the 400's came out they were called international in 1955.

What you have is a McCormick W-4. From early in International Harvester Company's business they seperated the tractors into Farmall, McCormick-Deering, and International. Farmall basically was any "row crop" tractor and was built to "carry or suspend" the impliment between the front and rear wheels. McCormick-Deering built tractors that are known as "standards." Standards were designed to "push or pull" their impliment. International was basically a sub-set of both Farmall and McCormick-Deering. International was the "industrial" line. In 1948 or so the last "Deering" family member passed and the name was stopped being used. In 1954 IHC combined the International and McCormick into one line the "International" line. I may be off on the dates but should be pretty close.

The Deering was dropped in mid-1949, so you have a McCormick W4. If it has International on the hood and grill it is an "industrial" version which does not use the McCormick term. Technically, if it says McCormick it is a International Harvester McCormick W4. Unless you are giving a history lesson just call it a McCormick W4. Do not use the term McCormick International, that is backwards.

Don't tell the UK guys "McCormick International" is backwards, many IH's over there are decaled as such.

The W-4 is STILL McCormick regardless.
