Somebody PLEASE buy this tractor.............

Tom, look at the listing. That is some joker trying
to sell parts but he is too lazy to take them off
first. I know that wasn't very nice to say and the
guy probably knows me so I hope he takes it well. I
refuse to buy parts unless I am confident the man
can take them off without destroying them. And
reading the ad I don't think he wants to sell the
tractor anyway. I am not sure what his angle is?
Maybe I could sell him a magneto?

Howard, I agree. After I read the listing, I saw it was the steering wheel he is selling. However, my angst is that an ID-9 is not a common tractor if that is what it truly is. I am not that familiar with the letter "big boys", so I can't be sure.

I agree with you, as I have seen this listing technique a couple of times, and it definately turns me off.

If that truly is an ID-9, I would love to see someone buy the whole thing and bring it back to life........

Well, if it were in Australia I'd think it was an AW-6. There are a couple of AW-6 tractors on ebay.com.au Not a bad tractor, except that they had a nasty habit of chewing the splines out of the rear wheel centre leaving the tractor stranded.

i emailed him what he wanted for the whole tractor as it sits and he told me 750. only problem is the motor is stuck and theres no way in he** im gonna deal with a stuck 9 series. those engine parts are hard to get!

$39 + $30 for shipping on a steering wheel is outrageous, and his listing tactics are deceptive.

I believe what he's doing is against ebay rules if someone felt so inclined as to report him. Ebay won't find him on its own because there are millions of active auctions to police, so he'll probably get away with it.

If the rest of the parts he's trying to sell are listed and priced similarly, you've got nothing to worry about. The tractor will remain whole.

to me it seems like some clown that knows very little about tractors. looks like a genuine id9 but way too much money. unless a person had an engine to drop in. he sure is worried about the magneto.

Somebody ought to buy the pintal before it goes to scrap. It will require a torch to get off or many hours of struggle to do it right. Will certainly need a torque multiplier. Pintal will fit Standards down to Series 4. The four bars that attach it to tractor are different for each model. I'd like to see the seller list it but it seems unlikely.

not sure what your looking at, but theres no pintle on that tractor

The last picture does seem to indicate a pintal. The third picture shows something else but is a better picture although not that great.

He says he wants a diesel mag. Why didn't he check out eBay? There is one currently or within the last few days. Don't think he has what it takes to get it running. Don't even think he could separate the steering wheel from the steering shaft.

Of course, it is not about the steering wheel or mag. He just wants off-eBay offers on the whole or parts. It's a cheap way to get national exposure at a low cost. But he might do better placing a free ad at YT. That assumes he knows about this site which is unlikely.

Can't beat the cost of shipping...I will giv'em $75
delivered to my front door or North Star Steel
recyclers.

I sure don't see the hitch piece you pictured located anywhere on that tractor.

This tractor probably will never run again. If it does, it will almost surely need more help than the magneto. He probably doesn't really want a mag, either. He's mentioning a mag/parts leading people to the idea that putting a mag on it and fueling it up will allow you to fire it right up. Typical advertising to lead people to believe something is in better shape than it is in. This is probably one of those ID-9's that a nice little old lady drove around the quarry every Sunday until she died in 1960 and has sat ever since.

It's a fairly rare tractor, but very few will want to open their wallet up wide enough to make that engine purr again.

Hmm, maybe I should. I am up to three WD-9 motors to make one good one. That tractor would make four. You would think I could make two good ones out of four...

Get 'er bought and I bet you'll have more spare timing gears than you will know what to do with. :)

Go for it if you can get for what it weighs or a few bucks either way. I'll be rooting for you.

I went through the same thing with two 400 diesels a few years back and swore off ever looking for a non-running gas start diesel again. There's usually a reason these were parked when they were.

Forgive my ignorance, but what motor is fitted to an WD9? Just interested to know. I presume it carried forward with the start on petrol and change over to diesel arrangement?

I think the Non-Super 9 series diesels were D335's, and the Super 9 series diesels, 600D's and 650 D's were D350's.

These engines were 4 cylinder gas start diesels, similar to, but larger than the D248's in the MD's and 6 series tractors and their respective replacements up to the D-281 in the 450's.

I actually have a couple timing gears for sale right now! If I can sell all my extra motor parts for the starting prices of the stuff on eBay I could probably get a "free" set of bearings out of the deal. I just saw a set of std mains for $450 in RPM. That is by far the cheapest I have seen to date.

ID-9"s are rare and that one shouldn"t be scrapped--but like others have said parts are really hard to find. Hard to tell, but I doubt that the exhaust was covered so you can just imagine what the inside of the cylinders look like. Engine parts barely exist anymore, I am tempted just the same.

It's not quite as special as the ID-9, but here's a big WD-9 looking for a better home with a reasonable starting price:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MCCORMICK-D...pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1814313c

It's another ran-wan-parked tractor. It does appear to have been moved in recent history, unlike the ID-9. I like the "I don't think it would take a lot to get the engine loose again but I guess you never know." Kinda like being told that cancer is usually no big deal, but it could kill you.

Pros: It has a few goodies on it with the front pump and hour meter. The lights are there, I think I see a hand crank, and the sheet metal looks very good. Looks like weights on the rear axle, too, but I'm not sure.
