350 row crop seal and bearing

I have looked back into past info but need more info: Does the flat side of seal face out on the side that is out when you push it in? How far do you push the seal in? Will it bottom out before it reaches the felt washer? Can the outer bearing be replaced without pulling anymore apart? Does the bearing need to be packed even though it sits in oil? (mine has a grease zert on top) My books show nothing on any of this. thanks for your help

Jimmy, there are 20 or so seals on a 350rc that are almost all different. Which seal is being discussed. Jim

I assume you are talking about an axle on a H/M--up. ALL oil seals face with the lip, which usually covers a spring facing the oil. You remove the 4 bolts holding the cover and the seal, felt, etc comes out. Disassemble and clean it good then put the new seal and felt in. The felt goes on the wheel side of the seal. i don't think, in this situation, that you can reposition the seal, just push it in as far as it will go. As to the bearing, it is probably difficult without removing the axle and housing, I have the axle and housing off my Super M now, will reinstall it, then do the other side. I would pack the bearing before installation. If I am off the subject the same rules as to installation apply.
