Does anyone know what the thread size and type of the inlet to the IH carb on a cub is. I am changing the fuel line and want to go with a nipple set up and run soft line. I can't seem to find any info on inlet size and type, ie pipe thread threads per in... I don't want to mess the carb threads up.
Thanks.

Just take the carb to NAPA and they can fix you up with hose, brake line or whatever you want to use. I use rubber fuel line on a new to me with in-line filter till i get all the bugs out then make new line with steel brake line later.

Thanks Gene. I did take the fuel line in to a parts store and got a metal setup to put in both sides but to sediment bowl side which was new started to pull out the first round of thread trying to crush the crush washer. I thought that would happen if I tryed it on the carb. The new sediment bowl took a plastic fitting of 1/8 mip with 1/4 hose barb.( went in easy I;m hopein it doesn't leak) I have a 1/4 mip to 1/4 hose barb but I can't tell if its different dia.. It does seem to have the same threads at 1.25. Guess if I tryed it it would only mess up the plastic threads.
This is a "working" tractor so to speak. I am changing from low exhaust to pipe through the hood. I have a different hood tank and have Caswell-ed the tank and put on new sediment bowl and will change manifold. Painting will come later. Wanted to use it if we got snow to plow the driveway. I should have had this done but... We don't get too much snow in Maryland but when we do it nicer to plow the drive then to shovel. Only about 100+ ft double car wide but it was nice to plow. Plus when the plow is working I can do the neighbors driveways also.
Thanks again,
bill

The compression nuts that come on 5/16" steel brake line, whatever those are, will thread into the carburetor.

I highly recommend you stick with a steel hard line instead of rubber, especially if you have an underslung exhaust. Rubber will burn, rupture, and leave you with a nice fireball and a charred spot where your tractor once sat.

Thanks Screwstick and Mkirsch. I tried the plastic 1/4 mip nipple and it went in. It got to a stop point to where the wrench would start to round the corner so I stopped and then backed it out. the threads of the plastic were not all cut up and looked ok. On the sediment bowl side I used a 1/8 mip in it and it seemed ok. I'll see how ok when I put fuel in it. This will not be a original tractor.Johnny Cash sang of a 52,53,54,55,56 car he put together out of parts he brought home from the plant. "Wish I worked at the plant". I wanted a Exhaust pipe coming up through the hood, and the tank is kinda rusty. So I found a different manifold and got a tank/hood with hole for pipe and am making the change. I'll keep all original stuff in case I get rid of it but I don't think that will happen.I have way too many motorcycles and two tractors(oops three countin the 2400 backhoe) and have a list of what other tractors I could "use". Just gotta keep em running.
Thanks again,
bill
