My 2 cents it"s a line shack. That thing bout a fire cellar sounded pretty good also.

Yup, its an old disused pump house.
The bore is in a valley that is very flood prone. Huge floods have filled the valley in the past. The pump house is built above the bore, and raised to provide flood immunity.
It's no longer in use, but I looked at it a couple of times and had to climb up and check it out.
