Cleaning up the Farm yard and we have two no running Farmall Ms. Do I take them too a salvage yard, or trying selling them or do I scrap them. I figure there are plenty of M;s around know would want to buy them anyways. Any advice would be great thank you.

They are worth 500 as scrap(estimate) but 500 as a tractor to a person in the area to play with, or you could make 1000 each if you parted them out into unit pieces. (I would place an ad here (to the left) and also Craigs List) Jim

Where are you located? You could also check with the local 4-H or FFA chapter and donate one. I know our high school shop teacher is looking for a tractor to take a part and show the kids how a transmission, rear-end works. Just a thought.

Please put them as separate parts on eBay or the internet and start with 9,99.Pre cleaner fenders still on them?
It will bring some bucks I can assure you....

Located in Nebraska one has a wide front but i dont think it factory and that has a aftermarket power steering system.

Not to mention, YOU have to haul them for scrap and THE BUYER has to haul them as tractors. That is a big savings right there.

If you truly want to get rid of them regardless of how much they bring, then advertise them through proper channels and price them cheap.

Running and driving they will sell in minutes at $1000 each. You get twice as much money as you would for scrap, and you don't have to lift a finger!

If they were mine I'd paint them and keep them, but for you, I recommend craigslist. It's easy, relatively safe compared to other forms of selling (i.e. ebay) and FREE.

Just don't be stupid about dealing with the buyer... Only accept CASH in person. First person to show up with a stack of $100's gets the prize.

DON'T scrap them!!!!

There may be a lot of them around, but as the saying goes - they aint making any new ones.

At least TRY advertising it on craigslist at or close to scrap value (to keep scrappers away).

Or better yet, as somebody else said, donate it to your local 4H or ffa - they can give you a receipt for the fair value of the trator (say 1300 each or so). That's a direct deduction on your taxes - true value will depend on your tax bracket.

But you'll also have the satisfaction of REALLY making the day of some kids wanting to restore a trator - who otherwise might not ever get the opportunity.

Somebody just donated a hay rake to our club, and you can't imagine how much it's appreciated.
Not only are the kids going to restore it, but they're going to use it in the spring.

While I'm going on about this - if there's anybody within 500 miles of massachusetts looking to donate any equipment - please let me know!!!

You are cleaning your place up, so you won't want to part them out yourself and have them setting around for years, although that would probably bring the most return in the long run. Someone suggested pricing them at or slightly above scrap ($500) on craigslist and that sounds like a good way to go. You can always scrap them later if there is no interest, but I bet there will be. Drag them out where they can be seen with a "for sale" sign and you might even get some action from drive-bys. Just don't get hooked into people wanting to just buy parts off of them and leave them sit.

Agreed - if you're going to part them out at all, them part them out completely.

Otherwise you'll lose the chance to sell them as complete trators.

Nobody's going to want to pay anything for a tractor that needs a whole bunch of parts. That gets WAY too expensive to restore.

Don't know where you are from but our FFA is looking for an M or H to do we just are finishing up our 5th tractor and need another Jerry charleston Il. FFA
