Carb detent ball?

My H carb choke won't stay set, I've had to disable the choke lever and wire the choke open. I must be missing a detent ball? My tractor restoration store doesn't include detent balls with the rebuilt kits, where can I find one?

I've been told that a BB will work, but you also need to make sure the detent spring is still in that hole, and if it is you need to dig it out and remove all the dirt and other crud from the hole. Otherwise there will be no spring action, and the ball will just fall out again.
