My father in law had our local IH dealer modify the original generator to put out 12 volts years ago and according to his son the tractor ran with no problems with this configuration (generator, regulator, 12 volt battery). I like the stock look with the 12 volt capability so i want to keep it unitl the generator dies before i switch to a alternator.
I do not have a cut-out on the generator so can I wire the tractor according to Bobs 6 volt schematic but switch it to a negative ground? Also, do i go from the positive batt. terminal to the starter switch, and then on the other starter switch stud run a 2 gauge wire to the starter and a 10 ga. wire to the ammeter? thanks for any help you can give, i really appreciate it, i really want to fire the tractor up this weekend...
