I beileve you are looking at a one way action set of. valves. If your tractor has a pump on the right front of the engine, it has live hydraulic. There will be a Liftall Belly pump in the center of the tractor if not. Either one can be set up to to operate a double action cylinder. Which setup does your SMD have. Jim

If you don't have a 2 way valve added to the MD, you only have one way hydraulics. You need to run a hose from the one way end to a 2 way valve, to get double action.

it has the live pump. a resevor with a lever going to it under the fuel tank and a valve looking thing on the right of the fuel tank with another lever that ive been using to hold UP the implement, or is something wrong

The second valve is called a Christmas Tree. it is capable of operating the cylinder. Look up Christmas Tree Valves in the archives. Clear info will be available. Jim.

Sounds like you have this set up. That vertical valve is commonly called a Christmas Tree valve due to its branches. If plumbed properly, it will provide power up and down to a double acting cylinder.

The lever that goes into the reservoir has to be held back.

To get power for both up and down to the cylinder, the lever on the Liftall reservoir (the rear lever) must be pulled back and latched in place.

The pair of cylinder outlets on the Christmas tree valve will now provide pressure in both directions, controlled by the lever on the Christmas tree valve.
