F-12 Radiator Repair

I've got an F-12 I'm restoring and just tested the radiator. It has two leaks in the core in the middle. It looks like the nice OEM type and I'd like to get it repaired instead buying a new one. Anyone have a recommendation for a repair shop? I'd rather pay a little extra and get the best job done. Thanks.

If there is only 2 tube leaking, do what the old timers used todo and seal them off. You can crimp or plug them and then solder them off; or use hi temp silicon and fill in the tube ends.

There are 2 places I go here in western Pa., both are in the Pgh area. One is Herb Brittner Radiator repair. Herb has been doing rad's for almost 40 years, and knows his stuff, especially on the old ones. He is kind of grumpy and short on the phone, but he is a good guy.

Other one is Bakerstown Radiator Repair in Bakerstown Pa. They also know their stuff and are a bit more customer oriented than Herb. However, they are busy all the time. both have contact info on the web.

How bad are the leaks? If that is an old, copper core and in reasonably good shape, you can actually solder the leak your self. Other option in a pinch is to use Barr's leak if the holes are small and on one of the inner tubes. I have done both, and both have turned out fine.

One note, if you use the Barr's leak, follow the directions, and expect to run the tractor, after it is up to temp at least 30 mins to circulate the product. If it is used as per the directions, it works wonder's for small holes and "seeping" type leaks/cracks. Too much, and it will cause you problems. 1 bottle of it, and applied as per the directions. Your mileage may vary...............

The leaks are pretty substantial. Both are free flowing at larger than a pencil tip. I think something got jammed in there as there is no corrosion on the whole radiator core. Thanks everyone for your comments and especially to Tom for the contacts. Very much appreciated.

I'd just do it myself. Disassembling the radiator isn't a terrible job. Just use heat and care so you don't have to remove too many broken bolts. If you can see which tubes are damaged you can plug them with some silicone or jb weld. You can buy or make new gaskets. New cores are available too.
