I have a old 1941 k5 truck that my dad bought many years ago and it has sat for the last 20. I have been wanting to work on it but i am in need of a wiring diagram for it and posibly any other information regading transfering it over to a 12 volt system. thanks for any help on the mater.

There are a couple of forums dedicated to the IHC trucks, OLDIHC is one of them.

While I am not a big fan of converting old tractors to 12v, I have no issues doing that. However, on these old trucks, you will have a bit of a bigger challengs doing it. All the lighting needs to have the 6v bulbs changed out to 12v. Then you have the dash lighting. Then, if it has one of the old heaters, that will need to be modified. Then the ignition, and on and on.

If there was one time I would argue against changing to 12v, it would be on one of these old trucks. It can be done, but you have your work ahead of you to do so. I believe that Binder Books has a number of manuals available for this as well.

I am in the progress of doing lots of research as I just bought a 1949 KB-5, and there are resources out there, you just need to do a little homework on the net......

I cant help much other than to tell you to check with the Brillman Company. The manufacture original style braided wiring harness for old trucks and tractors. You can get factory orginal or an updated harness for 12V conversion with whatever alternator you have. If they dont have what you want on the website, call them! They may have it or should be able to make it. You have to call though as they are not real fast or reliable through email...
