What can be the advantage of having a plow such as this? I'm serious, now. I never experienced much time on the ends when plowing "lands".

The long rows is where they earn their keep because there are no deadfurrows. BTW, we chisel our headlands nowdays if we plow.

Yes,we plow everything.we have to have a 'clean surface' in order for the irrigation water to run.We use this type of plow to eliminate dead furrows, which can impede water flow

I like two-way plows since I was surrounded by them growing up but here in Kansas they are virtually unheard of. I have a #39 tumble plow and know where there are some Fast Hitch two-ways for sale in Colorado. I get tempted every time I look at them when I visit my parents there. One would look neat on my 350!

my grandpa bought one of them new with the 806. it was replaced by a 140 before i came along.

can't imagine a plow without coulters though.

Yes,Super Chief bottoms. Those "fingers" are called 'coverboards' or 'trashboards'.they tend to through the trash ahead and into the furrow for a cleaner job. Most people here do not use coulters,we dont seem to need them.

I have a 3 bottom rollover like the pic, except mine does not have the depth control wheel or any mechanism that goes with it. Where can I get the parts. I like the plow and use it for small grass spots sometimes, but without depth control, you need a big tractor throttled down. My 460D that I used to have didn't have a sniff, the 4010 is loaded. No other IH's with 3 point.

That gauge wheel is still used on current plows.Your best option is to find a junk plow with that gauge wheel on it.Your 460 will need a gauge wheel and a fast hitch plow to work properly.your 4010 with its load/depth(draft control)will funtion quite nicely without a gauge wheel. In fact, most of the JD plows(825/835) of that era did not use a "gauge wheel"
