706 rear end

hi my 706 feels like the left side drags a bit as i go down the road making the front jerk to the left then swat back an forth slightly. it seems to happen most noticeable when on an up hill pull with no implement behind at road speeds but its there all the time. i thought it was improperly mounted rims but today driving it snow the front would almost slide then straighten, any ideas to what i am seeing? also does anyone know were to look for door handles for a y-a-r cab ?

Jack that rear wheel and put in Neutral. Spin it by hand. a bearing going to the trash will be able to be felt. Jim

Be careful going fast with it. A bull pinion gear in my 1086 lost a tooth and the loose tooth wedged between the bull pinion and bull gear when my son was taking it wide open down a gravel road. The right rear wheel just stopped BANG at 22MPH. He was quick enough to use the left brake to keep it reasonably straight, but the skid mark was over 100 feet long. You don't want that happening. Jim

That chance exists but I would put it at .05 or 1 in 20. I have had bearings go like that and it is not good. Two things in this case are important. Safety, and money The money issue is that a broken bearing will take a housing or bull gear or axle with it. Tripling the cost or more. Jim

We had this happen to an 886 one time going through a gate, had to pull it out of the way to shut the gate. We called the tractor junk yard and they came and got it.

We had the brake hang up on our 806 and it was easy to tell it was happening because the brake housing got too hot to touch. Easy to rule out. Snowball's shot in heck that this is the trouble but start with the easy stuff.
